ABOUT THE ARCHIVE
The Archive is a multi-platform digital experience created by family for family. Our goal is to create a living memory palace where the past meets the present and experiences can be shared in a thoughtful and dynamic way. The Archive welcomes all Davenport relatives- we hope you will share your stories and add to the family’s collective memory consciousness.

waltzing backwards
“In the lost and found of life there are:
poems rediscovered with lines forgotten;
half-recollected lyrics to songs;
musical passages with their identity obliterated;
streams of undated visual images
without physical location;
and shelves and shelves of once read books
without one remembered phrase to go by.”
like waltzing backwards…”
-AVVM, “Scribblings”

INDIVIDUALS

“beloved people are much harder to let go of than things or places and much more precious. In a way they define our own identity, and in losing them, one loses a piece of oneself.”
-AVVM, Scribblings

PLACES
“A place belongs forever to whoever claims it hardest, remembers it most obsessively, wrenches it from itself, shapes it, renders it, loves it so radically that he remakes it in his own image.”
-JOAN DIDION

“I can only note that the past is beautiful because one never realises an emotion at the time. It expands later, and thus we don't have complete emotions about the present, only about the past.”
VIRGINIA WOOLF
